Mary M. Fialko, 91, of Streator, died January 5, 2000 at Heritage Manor of Streator.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Tom Melvin and Don, Kevin and Ron Fialko and grandsons-in-law: Mike Burroughs, Kelly Johnson, and Brad Sellers. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren: Connie Burroughs, Kathy Corrigan, Amy Johnson, Cristy Melvin, Theresa Myers, Carol Sellers and Jeff and Katie Fialko.
She was born August 23, 1908 in Streator, a daughter of Lucas and Anna (Bereznak) Vasichko. She married Albert A. Fialko Sr. on May 2, 1933 at St. Stephen's Church in Streator with Msgr. Louis Biskupski officiating. He died May 4, 1994.
Surviving are sons: Joe Fialko and Robert (Judy) Fialko, both of Streator, John (Linda) Fialko of Bellvue, CO; and Albert (Phyllis) Fialko Jr. of Clarkridge, Arkansas; a daughter: Mary Ann (Greg) Melvin of Streator; sisters: Irene (Rudy) Salz and Frances Wiggett, both of Streator; a brother: Edward Vasichko of LaMarque, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a son: Donald Fialko; sisters: Emma Barr, Susie Vasichko, and Anna Vasichko; brothers: George and John Vasichko; a sister: Elizabeth "Betty" Yednock; and two grandchildren.
She and her husband owned and operated Fialko's Grocery and Tavern in South Streator. She also worked at Radium Dial in Ottawa.
She was a member of St. Stephen's Church and St. Anne's Society Branch 66 of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.
