Belinda Wilkerson was born near Jamestown, Russell, Kentucky, January 26, 1835, and died February 1, 1925, age 90 years and 6 days.
She was married to Cornelius Blankenship March 30, 1862. To this union were born: J.N. Blankenship, Mrs. J.H. Smith, Felix Blankenship, Aaron Blankenship, [Fetnah Wooldridge, and Thomas Blankenship]. The children all survive her except the second son Felix who died February 15, 1901. Her husband preceeded her in death 14 years.
She and her husband resided in Russell County, Kentucky until 1903 when, with their youngest son Tom, removed to Belle Plaine and spent the remainder of their lives with this son in the vicinity of Belle Plaine. She converted in early girlhood and placed her membership with the M.E. Church and lived a faithful member until she was called to her reward.
She has been a great sufferer for the last four years and will be greatly missed by the family and her many friends. Funeral services were held from the M.E. Church in this city, Monday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by W.W. Otay, assisted by Rev. B. Young of the M.E. Church. A quartet composed of Misses Leata Hatfield and Seva Crews and Louis Reitz, and Solon Hatfield furnished the songs. The flowers were beautiful. A large number of old friends and neighbors were present to pay their last respects to the departed. Burial took place at the local cemetery.
