BLUEFIELD — Opal Helmandollar, 79, of Route 3, Bluefield, W.Va., was relieved of her suffering and went to be with her Lord on April 15, 2008. At the time of her death she was at home and was surrounded by her family.
Born March 11, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Mary E. (Molly) Dotson and Kelly Dillon.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by sisters, Pearl Goins, Bertha Haas, and Gladys Kirby. Opal was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was always available to help when someone was in need.
Survivors include, loving husband of 61 years, Bernard Helmandollar; son, Rick Helmandollar and wife Norma; daughter, Debbie Mariotti and husband Marty; grandsons, Bob Helmandollar and wife Christina, Ricky Helmandollar and wife Malissa, Kelly Mariotti, Justin Mariotti; great-grandchildren, Jacob Helmandollar, Dylan Helmandollar, Karlee Helmandollar; sisters, Beulah Shrader, Helen Edwards, Janet Dale and brother, Kelly B. Dillon; special and loving caregivers, Norma Helmandollar, Susie Dequino, and the Bluefield West Virginia Rescue Squad.
Pallbearers, Ken Kirby, Donnie Goins, Jimmy Welch, Buford Helmandollar, Bobby Helmandollar, and Rick Connelly.
A celebration of Opal's life will be held at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with the Rev. Don Helmandollar, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be given to the Rescue Squad in Bluefield, West Virginia.
