JOHN BRYSON (1763–1840)
aka Brysson, Brycon
John Brysson was born at Burnbrae, Avondale, on 20th November 1763, to Mungo Bryson and his wife Jean Alison. He was baptised at Avondale.
John Brycon married Helen Frame, at Avondale, on 8th November 1787.
John and Helen Bryson had at least 10 children:
1) Mungo Bryson (1788–1860)
2) Elizabeth Bryson (1791–1880)
3) John Bryson (1793–1880)
4) Jane/Jeanie Bryson (1795–1877)
5) William Bryson (1797–1885) [emigrated to US]
6) Andrew Bryson (1800– bef. 1807)
7) Helen Bryson (1802–1874)
8) Margaret Bryson (1804–1901)
9) Andrew Bryson (1807–1873)
10) James Bryson (1810–1875)
According to his burial record [see image in gallery], John Bryson, from Kirkmuirhill [Lesmahagow], died on, or just before, the 7th of May 1840, the date his burial was recorded at Avondale. In the record it cites him to have been buried "in 2". Is this the section or maybe even the lair? He is highly likely to have been buried near his parents Mungo Bryson and Jean Alison.
