Allie M. Carter was born at Waterloo, Ia. on August 9, 1876 and passed away at Ashland, Nebr. on May 4, 1950 at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 25 days. She was the daughter of Era M. Waring and Ann Eugenia Bruce, and moved to Holt county with them in 1880. Later the family lived at Geneva for a time and then returned to Middlebranch. There she married to Edward C. Carter on April 9, 1896.
To this union were born nine children, eight sons and one daughter; Edward F. Carter, State Supreme Court justice, Lincoln; Roy A. Carter who preceded her in death; Carroll L. Carter, Vinita, Okla.; Norris W. Carter, Spokane, Wash.; A. Birchard Carter, York; Mrs. Margaret Delaney, Lincoln; Richard T. Carter, Ashland and Russell A. Carter, Seattle, Wash.
Besides her husband and children she leaves surviving one sister, Mrs. Maude E. Jenney, Lamont, Ia.; one brother, Roy Waring, Middlebranch; nineteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of friends at Middlebranch, Beaver City, Bruning, Geneva and Ashland.
The funeral services were held aft 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon, May 7, at the Marcy chapel in Ashland. Rev. W. H. Merrill of Omaha was in charge.
The music was furnished by Lloyd Edwards who sang two selections, "When I Shall Fall Asleep" and "Going Home". Mrs. Howard Anderson played the organ accompaniment.
The pallbearers were Carroll Carter, A. Birchard Carter, Harry L. Carter, Richard T. Carter, Norris W. Carter and Russell A. Carter. Burial was made in the Ashland Cemetery.
