In the Civil War, Hope H. was a private in Co. I, 1rst Reg't. Arkansas Cavalry, CSA. He was paroled at Jacksonport on June 5, 1865. On Jan. 15, 1865, his brother, John C., a CSA soldier, died from his Civil War injuries.
Several months later, Hope married John C.'s widow, Cyrena Lowe Womack. They moved to Woodruff County, AR, and later, about 1870, first to Little Elm, Denton County, then to Trinity Mills, Texas, with their 9 children. In 1888, while working on the Caruth estate in north Dallas, TX, Hope died on June 28, 1888, and is buried in the Caruth Pioneer Cemetery. His widow is buried in Franklin Cemetery in Carrollton, TX.
