John C. Womack died in the Civil War. He married Cyrena Lowe on January 11, 1862. They had one son, William E. "Willie" Womack. John enlisted at the beginning of the war. On Cyrena's pension application, she said he served about 14 months before being wounded, then the Army surgeons sent him home to recuperate. Sadly, though, he later died from his wounds.
