STEPHEN H. BUSCH DIES AFTER SHORT ILLNESS
MANY PAY LAST TRIBUTE TO ONE OF COUNTY'S FIRST CITIZENS
Stephen H. Busch was laid to rest in the cemetery at Potter Valley Wednesday of last week, after his sudden death in a Santa Rosa hospital, where he had gone to take treatment. His death came as a great shock to his relatives and many friends, both in Potter Valley and in this section, where he was well known.
Mr. Busch was a native of Mendocino County, and had spent the 55 years of his life in Potter Valley, where the family has lived for many years. During the early years of his life he was associated in the farming business with his brother, George H. Busch. Later he took over the "home ranch" where the family had been born and reared.
His thrift and industry soon won him a considerable fortune. He was a sterling citizen, an excellent neighbor, and his passing leaves a place in the community that can never be filled.
His aged mother, Mrs. Anna Busch has not yet been informed of his death as her condition is deemed so critical that a sudden shock would be fatal.
The deceased never married and is survived by the mother, Mrs. Anna Busch, and by five brothers and five sisters: John, Charles, Owen, George and Gus Busch, all of Potter Valley; Mrs. Katherine Roberts of Santa Rosa; Mrs. Mary Taylor of Spokane, Mrs. Hattie English of Imperial Valley; Mrs. Frances Holbrook of Martinez and Mrs. Belle Bevans of Potter Valley.
Practically all of Potter Valley and many from this section attended the funeral which was held on Wednesday, March 24, and paid a last tribute to the passing of one of the best known and most respected citizens of the county.
