Hazel Dell Byrd and Glenwood Knipp were married July 10, 1937 at the Methodist Parsonage in Auxvasse. They resided at 206 Chestnut Avenue in Auxvasse.

Hazel Dell was born in Bachelor on September 23, 1920, the sixth child of Peter Lewis and Martha Ella (Dudley) Byrd.

Hazel worked as a cook at Blue Star Restaurant in Auxvasse and the North Callaway High School, her chili was wonderful. She attended Harrison School in Auxvasse, a one room school house.

Hazel's father, Peter Lewis, was born September 20, 1870 in Franklin County, Virginia and died November 2, 1937. Her mother, Martha Ella, was born on March 18, 1882 in Calwood, Missouri and died January 4, 1945. Both parents are buried in the Auxvasse Cemetary.

Mrs. Knipp, 75, of Gamma Road Lodge, Wellsville, formally of Auxvasse, died Thursday, June 6, 1996 at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico.

Hazel is survived by nine sons, Roy Lewis, Darrell Gene, Bobby Dean, Donal Wayne, David Edward, Bill Jewell, Gary Dale and Larry Joe, two daughters, Connie "Sue" Knipp and Sherry Knipp Martin, twenty grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.

Hazel was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Glenn Lee buried in Auxvasse Cemetary, four brothers, Jewell Adolph, James Harry, both buried in Auxvasse, Nollie Bob buried in Memorial Park Cemetary in St. Louis and Roy buried in Ebenezer Babtist Church Cemetary in Calwood.

Services will be at 2:00pm today at the Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with the Reverend Melvin Kirks officiating. Burial will be in the Auxvasse City Cemetery.

Casket Bearers were: Brian Knipp, Steve Knipp, Greg Knipp, Kenny Knipp, Stan Knipp and Danny Knipp.

Honorary Casket Bearers were: Jarrett Knipp, Jeff Knipp, David Knipp, Darin Knipp, Danny Knipp and Ben Payne.

Memorials are suggested to the Gamma Road Lodge Nursing Scholarship or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
