Mrs. Esther Bevis James, 83, of Florence, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at her residence after an extended illness. She was a native of Cherokee, Ala., and had lived in Lauderdale County most of her life. She was a member of East Florence Church of Christ.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today, Sept. 18, 2008, at Greenview Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel, with burial in Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating will be Gary Patton.
Mrs. James was preceded in death by her husband, Reeder James, and a son, John E. James.
She is survived by two sons, Gary James (Janice), of Killen, and Royce James; two daughters, Vicki Darby (Billy) and Annette James; two brothers, Pride Bevis, all of Florence, and Owen Bevis, of Cherokee; three grandchildren, Heather Marquess, Sarah Robertson and Amanda Frye; and five great-grandchildren, Kaytlin and Kourtney Marquess, Elizabeth and Sayler Robertson and Pyson Frye.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
