FUNERAL SERVICES HELD TODAY FOR JOHN F. BROWN
John F. Brown, 76, died yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock at his home, 912 Rothwell street. He was born July 18, 1857 on a farm near Jacksonville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brown, early settlers of Missouri. He later moved to a farm near Brush Creek school where he lived for many years and was a prosperous farmer. Five years ago he retired from active work and moved to Moberly. He had been an invalid for a year and confined to his bed for six months.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary N. Brown, six sons, Sam, Porter, Orb, of Gothenburg, Nebr., Finis and Onie of Jacksonville, and John of Sumner, Wash., two daughters, Mrs. Josie Peterson, Ingham, Neb., and Mrs. Leroy Cavanaugh, Moberly; thirty-one grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was a member of McGee Holiness church at College Mound.
The body was taken to the home of Mrs. Cavanaugh, 503 Hinkley street, where it remained until the funeral which was conducted this afternoon at 2 o'clock at Union Chapel west of Jacksonville by the Rev. Owens Hubbard, Presbyterian minister, with burial in adjoining cemetery.
