Martha J. Roberts, age 57, of Kahoka, MO, died Thursday, October 9, 2008, at the Scotland Co. Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.

She was born May 31, 1951, at Granger, MO, one of eleven children of George Washington and Mabel Elizabeth Otto Mendenhall.

She had been married to Nolan Keith Roberts and they were the parents of three children, Kevin, Gary, and Terry.

Survivors include two sons, Kevin Roberts of Cameron, MO and friend, Dawn Caviness of Wayland, MO, and Gary Roberts and his wife, Michelle, of Alexandria, MO; a daughter, Terry Doty and her husband, Shawn, of Wayland, MO; nine grandchildren: Stephen Caviness of Fort Dodge, IA, Mindy Roberts, Cody Roberts, Shantelle Doty, Logan Doty, and Shawna Doty, all of Wayland, MO, and Ashtin Roberts, Ryan Roberts and Ezra Roberts, all of Alexandria, MO; two great grandchildren, Lillian Caviness and Desirae Colella; four brothers: George and Joy Mendenhall of Crawford, MO, Tim Mendenhall of Baton Rouge,LA, Joe Mendenhall of Memphis, MO and Larry and Mary Mendenhall of Waverly, MO; four sisters: Mary Lou Greathouse of Osceola, MO, Kathy and Bob Hudson of Lancaster, CA, Virginia Mendenhall of Chicago, IL and Saraha Kennedy of Bremington, WA; special friends, Maxine Kellum of Wyaconda, MO, and Shirley Spurgeon of Granger, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John William Mendenhall; and a sister, Mabel Irene Shankle.

Martha attended school in Granger. She was employed at Steel Castings in Keokuk for twelve years until her health began to fail. The past five years she had worked at The Shirt Shack in Kahoka.

Martha was a member of the Peaksville Christian Church and a charter member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Kahoka. She loved to go dancing and attend concerts, especially to see Aaron Tippin who was her hero. She adored her children and grandchildren and that love extended to the rest of her extended family and many friends.

A graveside memorial service will be held Sunday, October 12, 2008, at 3 p.m. at the Granger Cemetery, Granger, MO, with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating with inurnment
following.

Family will receive friends at Wilson Funeral Home from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Sunday at which time the procession will leave for the cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the family.
