G. W. Mendenhall Dies of Heart Attack

George Washington Mendenhall, 49, died of a heart attack Sunday morning, June 21, 1959, at 8:05 in his home at Granger.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 in the Granger Presbyterian church with the Rev. Gary Tharp officiating. Burial was in Granger Cemetery.

Body bearers were Frank Smith, Robert Jones, Henry Kuntz, Laurence Smith, Albert Jones, and Hollis Speer.

Mr. Mendenhall was born November 15, 1909, in Scotland County, a son of John Henry and Effie Regnold Mendenhall. He was married to Mabel Otto of Gorin, December 20, 1939.

Surviving are his widow; five sons, John, Larry, Joe, Tom and George; six daughters, Irene, Mary Lou, Kathy, Virginia, Sarah, and Martha; five brothers, Joe of Luray; Newton of San Francisco, California; Ernest of Keokuk; Melvin of Quincy; and Wes of Memphis; and four sisters, Mrs. Nora Miller and Mrs Isetta Russell of Memphis; Mrs. Sue Harle of Kahoka and Mrs. May Gorton of Wheaton. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nola and his parents.
