Matthew's windtunnel, which Orville and Wilbur Wright visited from Dayton, Ohio and afterwards developed their's and it looked just like Matthew's.

Dear Grandpa Matthew,
You are very much missed not only by me but the whole nation, as you will always be remembered for your invention of the retractable landing gear and the many other contributions you made to this country as an aviation pioneer. I did not have the chance to ever meet you for you passed long before I came along, but reading through your diaries and lab notes I feel I do know you and you will always be in my heart.

First meeting of the Naval Consulting Board in 1915. Matthew was appointed to this board by President Woodrow Wilson and Thomas Edison along with his good friend Hudson Maxim, the inventor of Maximite Dynamite.

John C. Sellers, son of Matthew B. Sellers, II at an event honoring Matthew for his aviation achievements. His quadraplane is in the background hanging from the ceiling. Matthew took Kentucky's first powered flight in 1908 and invented the retractable landing gear.
