Vera Fletcher, 90, of Greensburg died at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Union Presbyterian Cemetery with the Rev. Ben Morris officiating.

Memorials may be made through Bass & Gasper Funeral Home to Mount Aerie Baptist Church.

Mrs. Fletcher is survived by a son, Carl Fletcher of North Vernon; daughters, Nadara (William) Beaver of Greenwood and Judi Checkley of Westport; 10 grandchildren; and 14 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond W. Fletcher; and a daughter, Carole Fletcher.

Vera Fletcher, 90, G'burg resident, had W'port ties

Vera Fletcher, 90, of Greensburg died at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis.

Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Union Presbyterian Cemetery with Rev. Ben Morris officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bass & Gasper Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fletcher graduated from Burney High School in 1935 and was a member of Mt. Aerie Baptist Church.

Born Dec. 28, 1917, in Milford, she was the daughter of Fred and Ruth Lewis Whipple. She married Raymond W. Fletcher in Forest Hill on Oct. 11, 1935. He preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1980.

She is survived by a son, Carl Fletcher of North Vernon; two daughters, Nadara Beaver of Greenwood and Judi Checkley of Westport; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Carole Fletcher; a sister, Jean Burkholder; two brothers, Lewis and Virgil Whipple; and a grandson, Brian Checkley.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Aerie Baptist Church.
