Norma Jean was the daughter of Fred Boyd Whipple and Ruth Elvess Lewis. She was born and raised in Clay Twp, Decatur Co., Indiana, and graduated in 1942 from Burney High School, Burney, Indiana. She married Roy E. Burkholder on July 22, 1944 in Marion Co., Indiana and made her residence in Terre Haute, and then at 214 West State St. in Pendleton, where she died.
Survivors include her husband, daughter Kathy, and two brothers, Lewis Edward Whipple, and Virgil Wayne Whipple, and one sister, Vera Ettafay Fletcher. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Fred Whipple who died infancy
