Laura Julia Barton was born in Malone, NY. She was the daughter of George Barton (Bertrand) and Mary Tebo Barton. As a young woman she was a volunteer for the Red Cross, which is how she met her husband. Their wedding announcement reads: Harry J Fenner of 25 Mason Street and Miss Laura J Barton, daughter of George S Barton of 38 Abbott Street, were married in the Church of the Blessed Sacrament. Miss Ella S Barton, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid and Luke Barton, a brother of the bride, was best man. The bride wore a gown of blue satin with blue hat and carried roses. The bridesmaid wore blue charmeuse and hat of blue and carried sweet peas. She received a ring from the bride and the best man received cuff links. A breakfast was served at the home of the bride after which Mr and Mrs Fenner left for their honeymoon.

Laura and Harry James Fenner had twelve surviving children: Harry, Barbara, Irene, Lillian, Nancy, Raymond, Claire, Robert, Glen, Charlotte, Charles and Richard. They also had two children who died at birth: a girl who was buried on Jan 2, 1940 and a boy who was buried Dec 5, 1938.

Therese Fenner Boucher and Susan Fenner are two of her granddaughters. Things we remember: Grandma smiled with her eyes. She played the mandolin as a girl. Grandma liked to eat shaved ice, and she also liked to eat nuts. When she had no more teeth, she would put the nuts into a meat grinder so she could eat them.
