Carl W. Meixel Sr., 74, died May 3, 1999.

He was a member of Westhaven Baptist Church and retired from Farm Fresh after a lifelong career in the meat industry.

Mr. Meixel is survived by three daughters, Patsy Bernard of Virginia Beach, Gloria Hatten of Woodstock, Ga., Kathy Lehman of Virginia Beach; a son, Carl W. Meixel Jr. of Canton, Ga.; two stepsons, Tom and Emmett Davis, both of Chesapeake; a sister, Toni Leidel of Chesapeake; a brother, Walter Meixel of Virginia Beach; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Westhaven Baptist Church with burial in Olive Branch Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Institute or the American Lung Association.
