Rose Meixel Blackstone, 75, of the 2600 block of Burntfork Drive, a retired co-owner of the Old Court Cafe, City Hall Ave., Norfolk, died Oct. 9, 1993, in a Clearwater hospital.
Mrs. Blackstone was a native of Salisbury, N.C. She was the widow of John Blackstone. She was a member of Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor, Fla.
Survivors include two sisters, Elizabeth Pipes of Lemon Grove, Calif., Antoinette Leidel of Chesapeake; two brothers, Walter Meixel of Grandy, N.C., Carl Meixel of Portsmouth. Mrs. Blackstone is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Betty Pollard of Virginia Beach, Hazel Powell of Chincoteague, Marian Calcagni of Norfolk, Anne Calcagni of Norfolk, Carole Bryant of Virginia Beach, Rosemarie Myers of Pasadena, Md., Helen Sumner of Chesapeake, Patricia Bernard of Virginia Beach, Janet Kidd of Virginia Beach, Beth Johnson of Norfolk, Gloria Hatton of Woodstock, Ga., Katherine Lehman of Virginia Beach, Mary Pipes of Cherry Valley, Calif., Nitsa Ayiomamidou and Niki Kyprianous of Nicosia, Cyprus, Roberta Denny of Oxnard, Calif., Roy H. Meixel of Norfolk, Carl W. Meixel Jr. of Woodstock, Ga., Everett Meixel of Virginia Beach, Leslie Meixel of Miami, Fla., Nick Blackstone of Chesapeake, Dr. Andreas Andreou, of Nicosia, Cyprus, and John Pipes of Lemon Grove, Calif., and many great and great-great nieces and nephews, so dear to all our hearts.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Joseph Lehman. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary's Infant Home, 317 Chapel Street, Norfolk, Va. 23504. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, will be handling the arrangements.
