Christian Bush, 85, Expires At Home

Christian Bush of 724 Warm Springs Avenue, well-known Huntingdon citizen, passed away at his late home this Friday morning, Sept. 19, 1947, at 9 o'clock. He had been in failing health for the past couple of years. On Wednesday afternoon he took a turn for the worse and this morning death came peacefully. Death was due to an internal hemmorrhage.
Mr. Bush was born in Juniata Township, August 5, 1862, hence he was aged at the time of death 85 years, 1 month and 14 days. He was a son of August and Catharine (Rudolph) Bush. He was educated in the public schools of Juniata Township. He began his active life as a day laborer on the farm and continued farming as an occupation until he moved to Huntingdon in 1904. After coming to Huntingdon he took up carpentry as a trade and was active in this occupation until he retired about two years ago.
He was united in marriage to Sadie Ridenour in 1882 and they lived happily together until her death a couple of years ago.
Mr. Bush was a faithful member of the Fifteenth Street Methodist Church of Huntingdon. He was devoted to his church and was a fine Christian gentleman. He was always to be found at the church services when his health permitted.
In politics he was a Republican, and in his younger years was especially active in county and municipal government affairs. He was County Commissioner of Huntingdon County from 1905 to 1908.
He is survived by one son and two daughters: Ralph L. Bush, Mrs. Elsie Jenkins and Mrs. Gladys LaRue, all of Huntingdon. He is also survived by one grandchild, Betty LaRue of Huntingdon and one sister Mrs. Mary Heffner, of Sioux City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at Brown's Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by his pastor, the Rev. R. A. Zimmerman. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at Brown's at any time after 7 o'clock this evening.
