Mrs. Adelaide Webb, wife of the late Dr. W. A. Webb, died at her home in this city Saturday morning about 8:00 after a brief illness. On Friday morning she suffered a stroke of paralysis and death followed.
Mrs. Webb was born in Sycamore [sic-Syracuse] NY, April 14th, 1832. She came to Indiana with her parents early in life and with them lived at LaPorte. She was united in marriage to Mr. Webb in that city fifty-four years ago and to them were born five children, all of whom died in childhood. Dr. Webb died about eighteen years ago and shortly after his death Mrs. Webb adopted Miss C. L. Trawin, who had made her home with the Webb’s since she was nine years of age. Ten years ago Miss Travin was married and made her home in Grafton, W. Va. She was here at the bedside of Mrs. Webb when death came.
Mrs. Webb was an ardent church worker, having united with the Christian church early in life and was a charter member of that church in this city. She was a great lover of children and was, in return, loved by her many little friends as well as the elders who knew her.
The funeral was held Tuesday morning at 2:00 at the Christian Tabernacle, Rev. S. Fowler conducting the services.
