THOMAS E. ANDERSON

Thomas E. Anderson, a veteran of the civil war, died Monday morning at his home, 526 south Pike street. He was 81 years old. He was a member of Dumont post, G.A.R. He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Mary VanCleve, of Indianapolis; two brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at two o'clock at the Vine Street M.P. church, the Rev. D. W. Hetrick officiating. Burial will be made in the Miller cemetery, Stewart & Fix in charge.

The members of Dumont post will assist in conducting the funeral and they are requested to meet in their hall promptly at one o'clock to attend in a body.

Thomas E. Anderson, 82 years old, veteran of the Civil War, died at 5 o'clock this morning at his home, 526 South Pike Street, from a complication of diseases, including pneumonia. He had been a resident of this city for fifteen years and a lifelong resident of Shelby County. He was born November 20, 1835, and was a son of the late William and Rebecca Anderson, their children numbering five sons and three daughters.

Mr. Anderson had married twice, his first wife, Miss Margaret Elkins, dying 24 years ago. He was married again May 6, 1896, to America Lingle, who survives him. Three children born to them died, but Mr. Anderson leaves a daughter, Mrs. Mollie VanCleve, of Indianapolis, born of the first marriage. Two brothers and a sister, Mrs. Lydia Daughterty, of Rock Lane, Johnson County, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive. The brothers are David, of this county, and Perry of Tipton County.

August 4, 1862, Mr. Anderson began his service in the Civil War as a private in Co. B, 70th Indiana Regiment Infantry, and was honorably discharged December, 1865. He was a member of Dumont Post, G.A.R., of this city and the members will take part in the funeral services.

The funeral will be held at the Vine Street Church at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. D. W. Hetrick officiating, and burial will be made in the Miller Cemetery in charge of Stewart & Fix.
