PNEUMONIA CLAIMED MRS. MARIA E. PILE
Widely Known Woman Died At Home Near Marietta This Afternoon
Mrs. Maria E. Pile, 84 years old, one of the widely known and highly esteemed aged ladies of the county, wife of the late Richard Pile, died at the old Pile homestead, southeast of Marietta, in Jackson Township, at twelve-thirty o'clock this afternoon, from pneumonia. She had been in failing health for several months, suffering from a complication of diseases, but her condition had never become serious until she fell a victim of pneumonia. Since that time her strength had gradually given away until the death angel called and relieved her suffering.
Mrs. Pile was born and reared to womanhood in Johnson County. She was married to Mr. Pile in 1852 and their life together until he passed to the great beyond a few years ago had been one of happiness. Six children were born to the union, three sons and three daughters, but the daughters had preceded the mother to the grave and were waiting with their father for her to join them in that land where sunshine and happiness reign supreme.
Deceased was an ardent worker for her Master and when she realized that the end was near she expressed herself as being ready to go and meet Him. She was a charter member of the M.P. Church at Marietta and was one of the last ones to answer the call of their Master.
The surviving sons who mourn her loss are Albert R. Pile, of this city; John W. Pile, near Marietta; and George M. Pile, who lives on the home place. Mrs. George Pile is also very low and her death is momentarily expected. Besides the sons, deceased is survived by one sister, Mrs. Lydia Daugherty, of Bargersville, Ind., and three brothers -- Thomas and David Anderson, of this city, and Perry Anderson, of Petersburg, Ind. The relatives will have the heartfelt sympathy of the county in their great bereavement.
The funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Marietta M.P. Church, the Rev. J.G. Smith officiating, and the interment will be made in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
