Raymond Clifford Lessard was born on March 23, 1926 in Lambert Township, MN, the 2nd of 14 children of Charles and Rose (Asselin) Lessard. He attended school in Lambert Township through 8th grade, and then worked on the family farm. Ray served in the United States Army in Germany during World War II. Following his Honorable Discharge Ray returned to the Oklee, MN area, and to the family farm.

On October 22, 1949, Ray married Maryann Nistler in Oklee, MN. The couple lived and farmed and raised seven children in rural Oklee. Ray also worked at various jobs while farming. He worked on the construction of the Missile base in ND, at American Crystal Sugar in Crookston, MN and he also worked as an electrician.

He was an active member of Lambert Township Board, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Woodman of the World Life Insurance, A.S.C.S. and the V.F.W.

Ray enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, attending auction sales, hunting, fishing, gardening, and woodworking. He could truly be called a "jack of all trades" and "the auctioneer's best friend." Ray was a very caring man and family was very important to him. He enjoyed helping everyone out and often spent much of this time visiting sick and hospitalized family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all the lives he has touched over the years.

Ray is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maryann; children, John (Mona) Lessard, Jim (Myrna) Lessard, all of Oklee, MN, Annette (David) Dunning of Park River, ND, Don (Rebecca) Lessard of Empire, MI, Elaine (Steve) Jorstad of Fargo, ND, and Barb (Greg) Guzek of Thief River Falls, MN; Grandchildren: Jesse (Amy) Lessard; Chris (Leslie) Lessard; Genevieve, Naomi and Adelore Lessard; Justin and Alison Dunning; Ambrose and Iris Lessard; Brittany and Lindsey Guzek; Tyson and Noah Jorstad; step-grandchildren: Gene (Darby) Trontvedt, Michelle (Craig) Magnell, Wade Parsley, and Chad (Amy) Parsley; great grandchildren: Triston Dunning and Braeden Lessard and step great grandchildren: Cody and Kaytlin Trontvedt; Tanner, Ian, Brock and Carter Magnell, Cameron, Kylie and Tyler Parsley; one brother, Maurice (Lou) Lessard, South Milwaukee, WI; four sisters, Delores Berberich, Brooks, MN, Theresa Champagne, Brooks, MN, Marie Mercil, South Milwaukee, WI and Yvonne (Chuck) Boucher, Mentor, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
