Mr. Chase was killed when at least one of the wooden spindles he was unloading from a freight train at Graf Brothers Express on Dexter St, toppled onto him. He had worked for Graf Brothers for thirty one years. After being taken to the hospital, Al was pronounced dead on arrival of head and chest injuries.
He was married to Charlotte M Fenner and left sons Alton F Chase III and Keith M Chase, as well as four daughters, Robin A Burke, Lisa A, Julia M, and Kelly M Chase. At the time of his death he left two brothers, Richard of Altus, OK and Frederick Fenner of Worcester, plus two sisters, Barbara Gustafson and Carolyn Pavilionis.
