She came with her parents and siblings to America in 1881 and settled in Geneva, Nebraska. She married Vaclav Kruta in Nebraska. The Braums and the Krutas left Nebraska for Oklahoma and settled on a farm southwest of Oklahoma City where she lived until Vaclav's death. Johanna's brother, Joseph Braum, Jr., died on the day of her death in Los Angeles, California.
Johanna was a member of the the Order The Oklahoma Farmer, no.89 in Oklahoma City since September 20, 1909 and was its secretary for many years.
