STEPHEN POWELL DIED YESTERDAY
Stephen Powell, an old and esteemed citizen who has resided in this city for a third of a century died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Fannie Hatcher on Boyce street yesterday morning.
Mr. Powell was a member of Capt. John T. Boling's company in the 16th regiment, South Carolina Volunteers during the war and bore the wounds of six battles from that struggle. He is survived by five children, Mrs. Malinda Perry of Pickens; Mrs. Fannie Hatcher and Mrs. Rosa Davis of Belton and William Powell all of this city. His age was 75 years. He was a Mason of many years standing and his funeral will be conducted by that order at Ebenezer church today at 12 o'clock.
