James died of heart failure, diabetes in OKC, OK and was buried at Mt. Calvalry Cemetery in Ottawa, Franklin, KS where the family lived most of their lives. James built the altar in the cemetery & an altar and classroom for Sacred Heart Catholic Church/School in Ottawa, KS. where his wife, N. Joan Miller taught. Joan & Jim met at KSU College, Manhattan where his family lived for 52 years. They were married 08-13-1948 & lived in Denver, CO, moved back to Ottawa 1949 and then went to Sunflower, KS 1952. Moved back to Ottawa 1955 and was the fireman. Then, 1971 to Charlotte, NC. where he was OSHA Inspector. He transferred with OSHA to Oklahoma City, OK, 1973. They were members of St. Eugenes Catholic Church in OKC since 1974. He served in WWII, 11-14-1942 thru 11-30-1945 as Flight Traffic Clerk and flew to Guinea, S. Philippines & Western Pacific. He was awarded decorations and citations of the American Theater, Asiatic-Pacific with 3 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct, Victory Medal and 1 0/0 Bar. Stationed in California. 6 Children all born in Ottawa,Franklin, KS
