HOISINGTON — Lenora C. Humphrey, 87, died Feb. 21 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. Born March 18, 1921, in Shaffer, she was the daughter of Jacob B. and Violet R. Brackley Ochs. On Sept. 25, 1942, she married Henry R. Humphrey in Great Bend. He died May 30, 2007. A resident of Hoisington since 1942, coming from Great Bend and Shaffer, she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Humphrey was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary to Post No. 286 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary to Post No. 7428, all of Hoisington. She remained very active and devoted to her church and the local Girl Scout Troop.

Survivors include a son, Robert L. Humphrey, of Redford, Mich.; a daughter, Rebecca Maier and husband Harlan of Hoisington; a stepson, Kenneth Humphrey and wife Janene, of Longview, Texas; a stepdaughter, Carol Clarke and husband Joe of Hoisington; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; and nine stepgreat-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and two grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington with the Rev. Ralph Jarboe officiating. Burial will be at the Hoisington Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or the American Arthritis Foundation. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.nicholsonrickefh.net.
