Joe was born Sept. 15, 1928, in Catawba County to the late Paul Ray and Blanche Bolick Yoder.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Carroll Stine and Burl Coffey, and a niece, Debra Stine.
He was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, worked for 15 years for Cline Piano, 18 years for Kohler Campbell and retired from Ethan Allen Co. He also was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Katherine "Kathy" Reed Yoder of the home; two sisters, Margaret Stine of Greensboro and Betty Coffey of Hickory; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Rosie Yoder of Hickory; nephew, Rick Coffey and wife, Penny, of Hickory; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, with Dr. David Seymour and the Revs. Scott Bollinger and Ken Reed officiating.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
