Funeral Today for Daughter
Of Star-Courier Founder
Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Feltus Romiser, who died Saturday, will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church.
The Rev. Elliston Cole will officiate, with burial in the Rose Hill Masoleum. Pallbearers are Earl Wylie, Leo Hickman, Claude Bartlett, Orville Beard, Robert Wiles and Tracy Ross.
Mrs. Romiser was 83. She died at the family residence, 1120 E. 1st St.
She was the only daughter of the late Henry James Feltus, who established the Feltus Printing Company and The Star-Courier in Bloomington.
Paul L. Feltus, publisher of The Star-Courier, Bloomington, and John R. Feltus, Lexington, Kentucky, are surviving brothers.
Two daughters survive: Mrs. Dorothy K. Moore, Bloomington, and Mrs. W. D. Wallace, Terre Haute. Also three grandchildren: Mrs. Jerry Spore, Bloomington, Robert Wallace, Terre Haute, and Mrs. Lloyd Williams, Indianapolis. There are four great-grandchildren: Jennifer and Daniel Spore, Bloomington, and Jerry and Debbie Williams, Indianapolis.
Mrs. Romiser was born in Greencastle, Indiana, and came to Bloomington when her father moved here to establish a newspaper in 1875. For many years she was active in the newspaper business, and, until recent years, was Women's Editor of The Star-Courier.
She was active in social and civic affairs for many years and was a member of the Women's Press Club of Indiana, and honorary member of Theta Sigma Phi, women's honorary journalism sorority, alumnae association, and the League of American Penwomen.
