Funeral services for former resident Charlene Josephine Yancy, 67, of Oklahoma City, were held Wednesday, Dec 20 at 2 p.m. in Winans Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jerry Hodges of Mayridge Baptist Church of Oklahoma City will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley.
Charlene Josephine Yancy was born Dec 30, 1921 at Pauls Valley to Charles and Josephine McCoy Henson. She passes away Dec. 18, 1989 at South Community Hospital in Oklahoma City after a length of illness.
Mrs. Yancy graduated from Paoli High School and later attended East Central State College at Ada. In March of 1942 she married Walter Yancy at Stratford. The family later moved to Maysville as Mr. Yancy worked for Warren Petroleum. The family lived here from 1953 to about 1967, when they moved to Oklahoma City. Mrs. Yancy was a past employee of the Pauls Valley state school and retired as a store inspector for her son. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors; her husband Walter of ther home in Oklahoma City; two daughters: Janice Porter and her husband Jim of Oklahoma City, Pat adams of Oklahoma City; three sons; Doc Yancy and his wife Sue of Tuttle, Terry Yancy and his wife Marsha of Oklahoma City, and Walter Yancy Jr. of Odessa, Texas. Fourteen grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, two brothers; Almon Henson of Shawnee, Ok. And Alan Henson of Fountain Hills Arizona.
John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, will be in charge of services.
