On May 25, 1868, Mary Polly became a widow. Her husband, Jordan, died at the age of 55 years as a result of a fatal kick from a horse. Her youngest child, Parthena, was only 6 years of age. Mary never remarried and lived out her life on their farm in Dade County, Missouri.

Mary Polly passed away on August 9, 1894, in Polk Township, Dade County, Missouri, having lived a long life of 76 years. Polk Township was near the present day town of Everton. She is buried along side her husband, Jordan, in the Stockton Family Cemetery, near Everton, Dade County, Missouri.
