Katherine was born in Hessen-Darmstadt Germany, the daughter of Mathias and Maria(Mueller)Loos. They came to America about 1849. The family stayed in New York State for awhile then by 1865 Mathias bought 40 acres from the United States just east of Kiel.
Kate married Fritz Broeckert and they had seven children.
