Oneita I. Bartholomew, Nov. 21, 1911 - July 15, 1998, Oneita I. BARTHOLOMEW, 86, Peru, died at 11:15 a.m., Wednesday at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie. Born in Fulton County to James Bruce and Lanora BLACK LOWE, she married J. R. WELLER in 1929. They were divorced. He survives. She then married Orla BARTHOLOMEW on Aug. 3, 1948. He died Feb. 13, 1966. Mrs. Bartholomew managed Blumenthal's Dress Shop, Rochester, before moving to Peru. She worked at Sears and Webb's Hallmark Gift Shop, retiring in 1991. She was a member of First Christian Church, Peru, where she was active on the church board and Women's Church Fellowship. She served on the Peru Civic Center Board, was active in Dukes Hospital Auxiliary, Peru, the Home Economics Club and the former Grandmothers Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Janice NELSON Leiters Ford; three sons, Brent L. BARTHOLOMEW, Muncie, Robert WELLER, Kansas, Ohio, and David WELLER, Sebastian, Fla.; 20 grandchildren 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Caralee GORDON, two brothers, two sisters, two grandsons, one great-grandson.
A Celebration of Life will be at 10 a.m., Friday at First Christian Church, 53 W. Main St., Peru. Rev. George McCARTY will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church. Arrangements are by Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru.
