---Teen-age Park Forest Girl is Polio Victim---
Polio claimed its first victim of the season Tuesday when a 17 year old Park Forest girl died at Cook County Contagious Hospital, Chicago. The victim was Lucille Norma McClenahan, who made her home with her brother and his wife, Mr. & Mrs. Donald L. McClenahan, 212 Dogwood Street, Park Forest. She had been staying this summer at the home of Mr. & Mrs. George Beach of Brassie Avenue, Flossmore.
Funeral services were held yesterday morning at Hazelwood Cemetery with the Rev. John R. Wyngarden, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Chicago Heights, in charge. Miss McClenahan was born October 9, 1933 at Ogden Utah. Both her parents died ten years ago. Until recently, she made her home with her sister, Mrs. Dorothy Lyons of Seattle, Wash. Moving to Park Forest, she attended Bloom Township High School the second semester of her junior year and all of her senior year, graduating last spring. Employed at the general offices of the International Harvester company, she left work July 24 because she was ill. She entered the hospital two days later.
Surviving are three brothers, Petty Officer Donald L. McClenahan, Chief Petty Officer Richard Myrl McClenahan, and John Edward; and two sisters, Mrs. Lois Lawson of Fort Thomas Ky., and Mrs. Dorothy Lyons of Chicago.###The Chicago Heights Star, Friday August 3, 1951 front page
