Mr. Lyon was born Sept. 18, 1927, in Wilkes County to Toliver Joshua and Parthenia Caroline Cheek Lyon.
Mr. Lyon was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Lee Lyon; two brothers, Chester Lyon and Lester Lyon; his sisters, Mamie Sexton, Ada Durham, Maude Hincher and Flora Lyon; and a brother-in-law, Roger Tilley.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Lyon of the home; and a daughter, Patricia Finger and husband, Rich, of Traphill; his grandchildren, Damien Finger and wife, Keisha, and Dakota Finger and his fiancée, Miranda Whitley; two great-grandchildren, Dalton Finger and Daylon Finger.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Old Roaring River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors provided by Wilkes VFW Post 1142.
