Clyde Chester Lyon Sr. of Thurmond passed away July 4, 2006 at Forsyth Medical Center.
Mr. Lyon was born July 9, 1925, in Wilkes County to Toliver Joshua and Parthenia Cheek Lyon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Lyon, and three sisters, Mamie Sexton, Ada Durham and Maude Hincher.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Cheek Lyon; sons, Steven Lyon (Susan), Clyde Chester Lyon Jr. (Pam), John Lyon (Terri), Benjamin Lyon (Linda), Richard Lyon and Tracy Lyon; a daughter, Evelyn Campbell; brothers, Lester Lyon and Lawrence Lyon; seventeen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at Old State Road Primitive Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
