Olive Weddle, 94 years of age, a resident of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Saturday, May 2nd, 2009, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset after a brief illness.

She was born on November 29th, 1916, at Nancy, Kentucky, daughter of the late Andrew Virgil Weddle and Vona Pyles Weddle. She put her faith in Jesus Christ early in her life and joined White Oak Baptist Church in Nancy, Kentucky, where she was a member at the time of her death. Her Church meant a lot to her, and she was present in the services and sang in the choir as long as she was able to attend.

She was survived by one brother, Earnest (and Thelma) Weddle; two sister-in-laws, Faye Weddle and Emma Weddle; several neices, nephews, grand neices and grand nephews; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Virgil and Vona Weddle; three sisters, Ruby Bombaci, Opal Weddle, and Gladys Daulton; and seven brothers, Arnold Weddle, Albert Weddle, Leonard Weddle, Earl Weddle, Virl Weddle, James Weddle, and Gordon Weddle.

Olive was fond of sewing, and for several years, worked at a place in Dayton, Ohio, where she helped with the making of draperies. After she moved back to the Weddle home-place, she lived there with her sister and brother, Opal and James, until Opal went to a nursing home. Then after James became ill, she was his caregiver until he had to be placed in a nursing home. She didn't do any of the spectacular things the world would notice, but just quietly served the Lord to the best of her ability.

She loved her brother, neices and nephews dearly, but was very tired and longing for her Heavenly Home. On May 1st, 2009 at approximately six o'clock in the evening, she closed her eyes and was welcomed into the presence of God. She is missed by her remaining family and her extended family at Britthaven Nursing Home in Somerset, Kentucky.

Visitations were held for family and friends at the Nancy Funeral Home on Saturday, May 9th, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.

Funeral services were held in the Chapel of the Nancy Funeral Home on Saturday, May 9th, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. James Floyd and Bro. Reggie Tipton officiating.

Burial followed in the White Oak Baptist Church Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.

THIS IS A TRIBUTE IN MEMORY OF OLIVE,

If you could see me now you wouldn't shed a tear, Though you may not understand why I'm no longer there. Remember my spirit, that is the real me because I'm still very much alive, I've just been set free. Oh, if you could only see!

I have held our Father's face and I've touched my Savior's hand. All of Heaven's angels rejoiced as I entered the promised land. Beyond the gates of pearl I've walked on the golden streets.

I've touched the walls of jasper and dipped my foot in the crystal sea. The beauty is beyond words and nothing could compare, I've even seen our Lords mansion and someday I'll meet you there. Let Jesus be your guide because "His Word" will show you the way. So please don't cry because we will meet again someday.
