Alfred died November 16, 1978 at St. Agnes Hospital In Fresno, California from Aplastic anemia. A resident of Fresno, California for 23 years.
He married Ruby Hege November 7, 1941 at Silver Springs, Maryland at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Sam Blankenship. Sam was Alfred's brother.
Ruby Rosetta Hege and Alfred Blankenship met at Belle Plaine, Kansas they were working. He worked at the feed store behind the ice cream shop and they became acquainted.
US Army WWII. Enlisted 30 April 1943. Released Date 11 December 1945. Served in China on 1 August of 1945 and missed his father's funeral.
Surviving is his wife, Ruby. Son, Mike. Daughter Karen. Mother Mrs. Dola Blankenship, Belle Plaine. Three brothers, Sam, Riverside, California. Charles of Winfield, Kansas. Hubert of Belle Plaine. Four grandchildren.
Services were held at John N. Lisle Chapel with burial in the Clovis Cemetery, Fresno, California.

A Valentine Party was given last Saturday afternoon for the first grade children at the home of Mrs. O. Large by their teacher, Dorothy Shockey. The children played a large number of games before the postman, Robert Glover, delivered each one a Valentine cap. Two tables were arranged for the twenty-two guests. Ice cream and wafers were served.
