He was the brother of Mrs. W. B. Whitson of Itasca; Mrs. M. S. Wood of Hillsboro, and Mrs. Ora Kirby of Waxahachie.
A native of Tennessee, he moved to Texas with his parents the late Mr. and Mrs. Steve Cheek, pioneer residents in the Files Valley community.
He was married to Miss Effie Whitson in Files Valley and many years ago they moved to Hico.
A Mason and member of Central Christian Church of Hico, Mr. Cheek was a prominent citizen and civic leader in that city.
He had been in ill health for several years prior to his passing. Mr. Cheek was 83 years of age.
Interment was in the Hico Cemetery.
In addition to the three sisters mentioned above Mr. Cheek is survived by his wife, Mrs. Effie Cheek of Hico and five sons.
