Carol Mae Deering, age 81, of Manitowoc, died Saturday morning June 3, 2006, at home with her family at her side.

Carol was born on May 18, 1925 in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Oliver and Katherine Cochane Dupuis Lee. She was a graduate of Washington High School in Two Rivers with the class of 1943. On May 14, 1949, Carol married Robert E. Deering at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Two Rivers.

Carol was employed at Plantico Drug Store in Two Rivers and then as a seamstress at Globe Laundry in Manitowoc. Prior to her death Carol was co-owner of Clipper City cab and Delivery with her husband Robert. She was past resident of the Ladies Elk's Auxiliary, Manitowoc and the VFW Auxiliary of Two Rivers. Carol was also a member of Sacred Heart Rosary Society and spent many active years as a girl scout leader.

Survivors include her husband: Robert E. Deering, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law; three daughters and sons-in-law, six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, one sister, one brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

Carol was also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother-in-law: Jeanette Wellsfry; Joann Bennett; Violet and Robert Lee; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Joseph Dupuis (World War II Veteran); Mark and Peggy Dupuis.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 5 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2006, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Visitation will continue on Friday, June 9, 2006, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday June 9, 2006, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum. The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Throughout Carol's life she enjoyed many special activities with her family and friends, such as bowling, sheepshead, sewing, and dancing. A very special thank you to Misty for her care and support of mom and to the Aurora VNA and Hospice Program. Carol has touched many lives and will be sadly missed by all.
