Ellsworth Theodore Thomas, Sr., 40 Marineland, a Flagler County Deputy Sheriff, died Thursday morning of a heart attack at Bunnell General Hospital where he had been a patient for several weeks.

He was a native of St. Augustine and was a guard at Marineland for a number of years before joining the sheriff's force here seven months ago.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Gwendolyn Ann Schultz, and a son, Ellsworth Thomas, Jr., both of St. Augustine; eight sisters and three brothers.

Funeral service was Monday afternoon at 2:00 at the Evangelistic Center Pentecostal Holiness Church in St. Augustine. The Rev. Jack Mesuita officiated. Interment was at Pellicer Creek Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Cliff Townsend, Ross Isminger, Red Williams, Everett Fitfield, James Tedder and Howard Hansen. Honorary pallbearers were Roy Garrett, George McQuaig, Roy Slappy and Phillip Cochran.

Craig Funeral Home, St. Augustine, was in charge.
