Donald Vern Deeds
LIMA — Donald Vern Deeds, 83, Lima, died at 8:50 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Lima Memorial Health System Emergency Room, Lima.
He was born Sept. 8, 1925 to Dwight and Elizabeth (Garmatter) Deeds, in Mansfield. He married Jeanettte King and she died in September 1986. He then married Adaline Cain on Jan. 1, 1996 and she survives in Beaverdam.
Also surviving are a son, David (Jennifer) Deeds, Beaverdam; a stepson, Robert (Cindy) Stover, Beaverdam; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Ed (Theresa) Turnwald, Delphos; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Hilty, Toledo; Mrs. Richard (Bonnie) Pfohl, Sarasota, Fla.
Mr. Deeds was preceded in death by two brothers, Minard and Samuel; and a sister, Marjorie Deeds.
He retired from Ford Engine Plant, Lima.
He was a member of Lima Elks Lodge 54; Eagles Lodge, Columbus Grove; Moose Lodge, Lima; Sager Masonic Lodge, Lafayette.
Mr. Deeds enjoyed woodworking, gardening and Ohio State football.
He attended Ohio State University and was a Rawson High School graduate.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009 at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton, the Rev. Del Edington officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Grove Cemetery, Lima.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
