Daddy-

I drove by the house, as I often do
To see the Oak Tree, we planted for you.

It was on your birthday, and seemed such a fragile twig,
We all doubted you'd live to see it big.

I know why that tree reminds me so much of you.
It's beauty is in it's strength as it stands tall and true.

Like that tree we saw you weather life's storms and endure,
You would bend but you never broke, you made us feel secure.

You were deeply rooted in your family and sacrificed much,
You taught us by example about humor, truth, honor and such.

We thought when you had to go, you'd be far away,
But your memories and love are in our hearts everyday.

I know, God welcomed you and spoke words of praise,
And said,"Well done my son", you'll dwell with me for endless days.

I hope God had a big Oak tree waiting for you, a quiet stream filled with fish, where you could finally sit in the shade and do as you wish.

The Twenty Third Psalm

The Lord is my Shepard; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters:
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me: Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil: my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
