Truly one of the early settlers of Portland, Elizabeth Bradbury arrived in 1731 at around age 20, having been newly married to Rowland Bradbury of Boston. They had many children in Maine and both lived long lives. They are mentioned in the published diary of Rev. Thomas Smith, Portland's first minister (see last paragraph of attached image). Her husband predeceased her in 1781 at age 82. His grave is no doubt at Eastern Cemetery, but records proving this are lacking. When she died in 1798, the Boston newspaper made notice of the very large family she left behind. No gravestone has survived for her at Eastern Cemetery, and her exact plot location is no longer known.
