Mrs. Mary "Janey" Agnes DeLatin Simpson, age 84 of Many, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at her residence in Many.

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 10, 2007 at 10am at the Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church of Many, Louisiana with Fr. Joseph Martina (Presider), Fr. John Pardue (Concelebrant), Fr. Andre McGrath (Concelebrant), Fr. Tim Hurd (Musician) officiating.

Interment will follow in the Saint John Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2007 starting at 4pm at the Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many, Louisiana and liturgy of the word/rosary at 6pm.

Mrs. Simpson was born on January 7, 1923 in Many, Louisiana. She was a life long parishioner of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church where she received all her sacraments and was active in the Ladies Alter Society, especially taking communion to the shut-ins with her special friend, Mrs. Bessie Mowad.

Janey spent many hours with Mrs. Clara Scott and granddaughter, DeLeigh Jamison, who cared for her with love and compassion and provided special care in her last days.

Recently she had received the Diocesan Service Award from Bishop Lawrence B. Friend for her service to God and the parish of Saint John the Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Cleveland DeLatin, mother, Willie Mae (Dew) DeLatin, husband, Mike Simpson, daughter, Sandy Jackson, sister, Eulamae Osborne, Nettie Merle Farmer, Theresa Gentry and Catherine Harkins and brothers, L.C. DeLatin and Ancul DeLatin.

Janey is survived by her daughter, Ronnie Lynn Williams of Bronson, Texas, sons, Michael Patrick Simpson of Kilgore, Texas, James Bradford Simpson of Many, Jon Truman Simpson of Many, Joseph Casey Simpson of Shrevport, Louisiana, Mark David Simpson of Moss Bluff, Louisiana and Gregory Paul Simpson of Shreveport, son-in-law, Jimmy Jackson of Many, sisters, Annie Conley of Shreveport, and Willie Cleve LeBlanc of Westlake, Louisiana, brothers, Jerome DeLatin and Herman DeLatin, both of Stonewall, Louisiana, 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
