Annie Blanche DeLatin Conley

SHREVEPORT, LA - Mrs. Annie Blanche DeLatin Conley passed away at the age of 100 on Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23rd, at Osborn Funeral Home. A funeral mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 24th, at The Cathedral of St. John Berchmans. Officiating will be Monsignor Carson LaCaze. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery-East.

Annie, born December 17, 1908, was the third of twelve children born to Willie Mae (Dew) and Lawrence Cleveland DeLatin. She was born and educated in Many, LA. In 1932 she received her nursing degree from Schumpert Hospital School of Nursing. That year she married Francis Conley at St. John Berchmans Church. She was always a supportive spouse and mother. She was active in the St. Vincent's and St. John's mothers clubs, a member of the Catholic Daughters and church circles.

An avid participant in life, Annie gave her boundless energy to family and friends. She continued as a caregiver to sick family members and as a volunteer at the Glen into her nineties. After family, time was spent gardening, wine making, canning, making peanut brittle, doll making, furniture refinishing and more.

Annie was a giver who always gave a gift of something that was uniquely special to each person. She shared hundreds of her home made items with family and friends. If you visited her, or she visited you, you could count on receiving some of her famous jelly or peanut brittle.

Last December, Annie enjoyed her 100th birthday celebration at the University Club and enjoyed the many dances with family and friends.

Annie is survived by her three children, Barbara Conley Gereau and husband, Ken, Pat Conley and wife, Maude, and Kathy Conley Coma and husband, Jerry; two brothers, Jerome and Herman DeLatin; and sister, Willie Cleve LeBlanc. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

The family takes comfort in the many years of love that she gave us. God has called home his special gift to us. Annie will be joining her husband, Francis and three special grandchildren, Paul, Randy and Jennifer.

Pallbearers will be Gary Gereau, Alan Gereau, Brian Conley, Brendan Conley, Tim Howard, Jr. and Matthew Howard. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerome DeLatin and Herman DeLatin.

The family wishes to thank Christus Schumpert Hospice, especially Chris King and Debbie Purvis, for their loving concern and care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent dePaul Society or the Thomas Moore Society (Foundation for Life), 29 S. LaSalle St. Suite 440, Chicago 60603-1548. OSBORNFUNERALHOME.NET
