Henry Harrison Durst
Henry Harrison Durst, 81, father of former City Councilman William G. Darst, died Sunday morning at 10:30 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Homer Schwartz, of Route 62. Mr. Schwartz and son, Everett Schwartz, are both ill in a Marietta hospital, having undergone operations for appendicitis.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from Heights United Brethren Church with the Rev. O.H. Carder officiating. Miss Osie England, of Height's Mission, assisted. Burial was in Lone Oak cemetery. Pallbearers were the sons.
He was recently baptized in the United Brethren Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lula Oliver, of Kanauga; Mrs. Zillian Hartley of Point Pleasant, and Mrs. Schwartz, where for the past two years he has been making his home; eight sons, William G., Dencil D., Wally B., Dana A., Charles H. and Barto L., all of Point Pleasant, and Jasper M. and Harry F., of Middleport. Sixty-seven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren also survive. He was the last of a family of eight children.
The deceased was the son of the late Daniel and Pollyann Durst, born in Jackson county, April 8, 1855. He moved to this county about 40 years ago. Mrs. Durst was Miss Elizabeth Stone before her marriage. She died Feb. 22, 1923.
