POINT PLEASANT - A former city councilman here for 35 years died Wednesday in Holzer Hospital, Gallipolis, Ohio.
William G. Durst, 86, of Clifton, was a retired carpenter and contractor. Mr. Durst was a former resident of Point Pleasant, where he also had served as street commissioner and fire chief. He was born Sept. 26, 1880, at Leon, a son of Henry and Elizabeth Stone Durst. His wife, Mrs. Lena Oliver Durst, died in 1958.
Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Edith Fox of Clifton, with whom he resided the past seven years, Miss Daisy Durst and Mrs. Mildred Woomer of Point Pleasant; sons, William Earl, Frank, and Clifford of Point Pleasant; sisters, Mrs. Zell Hartley and Mrs. Bertha Schwartz of Point Pleasant; brothers, Charles, Dana, Barto and Wallie of Point Pleasant, Harry and Jasper of Middleport, Ohio.
Service will be conducted Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Crow-Hussell Funeral Home by the Rev. James Morrison and the Rev. Frank Cheesebrew. Burial will be in Lone Oak Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today after 7 p.m.
